Pop Art or Rip-Off Art?

Pop "artist" Roy Lichtenstein will be forever remembered for enlarging pre-existing "low-brow" comic book images and "elevating" them to the world of "high-brow" fine art. Right. His primary tool was probably an overhead projector.

The original sources were often better drawn than Lichtenstein's rip-offs.

It's a safe bet to say that Roy Lichtenstein's art career was really about "deconstructing" other artists work.

Check out Deconstructing Lichtenstein to view more of the original comic book source images.
